Gingerbread House Contest Rules

  • Houses must be primarily constructed of gingerbread or graham crackers.

  • Foam board, cardboard, or wood bases may be used underneath the structure for support.

  • All visible construction materials (walls, roof, and decorations) must be 100% edible.

  • Adhesives must be edible only (royal icing, melted sugar, or similar). No hot glue, tape, or pins.

  • Maximum base size: 18" x 18". Maximum height: 24".

  • Entries must be presented on a sturdy base for transport.

  • Each entry should include a theme/title card.

  • Any type of candy, cereal, cookies, nuts, or edible items may be used.

  • Sprinkles, food coloring, and edible glitter are encouraged.

  • Battery-operated lights are allowed, but must be hidden and not part of the edible structure.

  • Structures must be original and made by the contestant/team.

  • Pre-baked gingerbread or graham crackers are acceptable, but no pre-assembled kits.

  • Teams may consist of individuals, families, or groups (limits to be set by organizers).

  • Judging Criteria: Creativity & Originality, Overall Appearance, Difficulty & Execution, Use of Edible Materials.

  • Entries must be delivered by the set deadline and remain on display until the event ends.

  • Late entries cannot be accepted.

  • Judges’ decisions are final.
